25 May AJ Sawhney – My Salesforce Military Story
Position at Simplus:
Customer Success Manager/Salesforce Military Ambassador
Experience in Salesforce:
31B- Military Police in the Army National Guard
How did you discover Salesforce?
I was a Technical PM at a leather goods startup in Austin, Texas. I was in charge of all things technology; from web development and marketing to dashboards and reports via Qliksense. We decided to implement Salesforce as an internal system. I pretty much learned on the job! That company was bought out, so I decided to move back to the Philadelphia area. I saw the huge opportunity with Salesforce and discovered Salesforce Military shortly after.
How did (are) you train(ing) to become Salesforce Certified?
I joined Simplus with only my Admin (201) certification. Simplus has provided me with all the tools and support to also obtain my Platform App Builder and Sales Cloud Consultant certifications. I’m currently studying for Service Cloud Consultant. I usually go through the trailmix, mess around in a sandbox, then go through practice questions online to prepare myself for an exam.
What is your #salesforcemilitaryvictory story into Simplus?
I joined Simplus with just one certification. In the seven months I’ve been here I’ve obtained two more, been promoted from Customer Success Consultant to Manager, and am now one of two Salesforce Military ambassadors for Simplus. I work remotely and have a clear path to move up within the organization. What else could you ask for in a company? This is my dream job.
How has Salesforce Military made an impact on your life?
Salesforce Military has provided me with all the tools and resources I need to be successful in the Salesforce ecosystem. I wouldn’t be where I am today if not for the support I’ve received.
What does the Salesforce Military community mean to you?
The community is the most important aspect of this group. Everyone is willing to help; no one is competitive. People go out of their way to give you support and advice—the cycle is addictive. It pushes me to help others in any way I can. Not to mention the certification exams are free!
What advice do you have for new Salesforce Military members?
Develop your soft skills and network! Technological skillset can be taught. Help others on the path no matter where you are in your journey.
What are some career-oriented goals you have?
I’d love to become a Solutions Architect or a Delivery Manager.
What are some personal (non-career) goals you have?
Test for my 3rd-degree black belt in Okinawan Karate. Be the best father and husband I can.
Martial arts, video games, comic books, fitness
